B Unique Millinery's 48Hr Millinery Mayhem.

Let’s sew a peaked hat together!

Introducing Dynamo, a simple flat pattern cap with a single piece crown shaped with darts.  Your choice of two different peaks. Choose between a wide shallow peak or a baseball cap style peak. Could even be made peak-less as a beret style. This cap has a fabric headband and lining for a clean finished inside.

Join Leanne Fredrick for a sew-a-long designed for use with a sewing machine, but can be hand sewn as well. Work virtually along side Leanne and others to make this fun and wearable skill building cap.

4 hr virtual session while you are at home and in your hat making space.

*** these sessions will NOT be recorded ***

These workshops will be limited to 15 people to ensure we can maintain a level interaction. If we have a large demand - additional sessions will be scheduled. This also maybe run in other time zones.

Anyone can join this virtually using Zoom, with plans to run these in each of B Unique Millinery's major Regions - Asia/Pacific (this one), North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).

Chance to test Zoom working correctly prior will also be available.

Attendees to this class will also have access to our 48hr separate breakout room.

About the Workshop

You will need to know how to work your machine, including threading. Basic sewing skills will increase your enjoyment of the Sew-a-long. This is a medium level skill pattern, and is not suitable for a first time sewing project. There is an expectation that you have done some basic machine sewing. I want you to enjoy the workshop and learn new skills, if you are not sure if it is suitable for you, let’s talk.

Class includes the Hattin’ Around Dynamo flat pattern with both peak options.
Sizes - 54.5 - 61 cm (21.5” - 24”) are in the instructions and tips on how to size the pattern are also included.

    • Use 2mm ‘Palight’ or other foamed PVC (A4 or Letter size is enough for this project)  https://modelshop.co.uk/Shop/Item/PVC-foamed-Palight-210-297mm/ITM8099

    Tips of fabric selection
    MATERIAL and DESIGN CHOICES
    • Mid-weight fabric works well, especially a nice wool for a cool weather cap or linen for a warm weather cap.
    • Light weight fabrics will make a more casual hat while heavier weight fabrics will
    stand proud.
    • Lining - Breathable and light weight. Quilting cottons or a mid weight silk are good.
    • The headband lining should not be itchy, and a light colour may easily soil.
    • Breathable fabrics make for a more comfortable cap.

PATTERN will be sent to students prior to workshop.
