"B Unique with Macintosh Rose" - with London Milliner Leanne Fredrick.

Leanne is a California born, London milliner, blogger, and inventor of the durable Hattin’ Around Hat Case. She is active in the London millinery community, hosts the annual Milliner’s Round Table discussion as well as teaches workshops privately, annually at London Hat Week, and internationally.

Leanne is our Europe Manager for online international millinery supply company, B Unique Millinery.

Leanne has worked with and learned from the quintessential couture London milliner, Edwina Ibbotson and master theatrical hatter, Jane Smith. In addition, she has studied with many of the world’s finest milliners, including Ian Bennett, Angel Amor, Susie Hopkins and Marie O’Regan.

Inspired by one of my mother’s hats from the late 1950s or early 60s, this charming vintage ribbon folding technique works well with a variety of ribbon styles from petersham, satin, velvet or strips of fabric such as cotton organdie (organdy).

… and the best part,

No Special Materials or Equipment is Required

In this workshop Leanne will be teaching how to do the fold technique with a wide ribbon, narrow ribbon as well as a strip of cotton organdie.  Students will practice the technique and I will demonstrate attaching the elements to a headband.  Some students may enjoying practicing and perfecting their fold technique while others may prefer a finished piece by attaching to a base their choosing.  Students will end up with samples or a completed headpiece depending on skill level and personal priorities.

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels.  You must be able to thread a needle.  Basic hand sewing skills will increase the enjoyment of this workshop.
