Whilst in London, Phillip's work with Europe's largest Costumiers, Berman and Nathan saw him undertake projects for Euro-Disney, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh.  A stint with English outfitter Herbert Johnston provided exposure to a celebrity clientele including Kylie Minogue, Joan Collins and Joanna Lumley just to name a few.

Phillip Rhodes Hats have been stocked in major stores across Australia since 1992 alongside Phillip’s made-to-measure practice.

Phillip continues to combine fashion headwear with an aligned career in the theatre. He is the house milliner at the Melbourne Theatre Company, Victoria Opera and The Australian Ballet.

Images of Phillip's fashion hats have been featured in Australian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Marie Claire.

In this online, interactive, live training, students will learn a neat, easy method of creating a headdress base suitable for bridal, fashion or theatrical application using easily sourced materials.

Adopting a simple pattern for precision cutting bridal tulle and applying to the headdress to achieve movement and softness can be made very contemporary or the beginning something very traditional.

Making the lace trimming is an insight into simple but effect use of small quantities of lace, flowers, ribbon.

Achievement.

Students will cut, join and crescent shape headdress in the hand.

Wire headdress will be covered in strips of cut tulle and then covered in crinoline; allowing for loops each end and centre.

A template will be fashioned using collar block on card and marked.

Multiple layers of tulle will the cut according to template and then gathering thread run through ‘headline’

Marking quarters, tulle will be applied to headdress shape. Arranging flounces and tucks and then sewn.

Fine wires will be tulle bound and using flowers, lace, etc a spray will be fashioned in accord with crescent shape.
